Anyone who is active in the online eSports betting scene will no doubt have heard of G2 eSports. They are one of the most active electronic sports clubs in Europe, with 12 teams competing in multiple gaming genres. G2 eSports was founded in 2013 in Spain, making them one of the younger organisations in the industry. Their original name was Gamers2, but they did not see any sort of mainstream success until 2016. It was only when they qualified for the 2016 EU LCS Spring season that they decided to change their name and brand awareness.
Organisations and eSports in Canada can easily take G2 as a model for a successful electronic sports organisation. While they may be of Spanish origin, the club is based in Berlin, Germany, and competes in all major European and International events. The organisation was developed to introduce innovation into club management while retaining core values and a high degree of professionalism.
Currently G2 eSports have around 58 players and 12 dedicated teams. It is the aim of the organisation to create a healthy and engaging working environment for all of their international players. The focus is on providing gamers with the right tools and levels of professionalism to get them to the biggest tournaments with the tools they need to win. This is clearly seen their LoL eSports success.
As with any major organisation, sponsorship is a major funding component to enable teams to perform on a global stage. G2 have built up relationships with many of the top brands in the world, including Twitch, Logitech, AOC, Paysafecard, ESP and NEEDforSEAT. The financial input and branding awareness of their partners have allowed the club to grow from strength to strength.
G2 Currently has 12 teams competing in a wide range of gaming genres. They are particularly well known in the CS:GO eSports circuit, as well as League of Legends, which combined have brought in the bulk of their prize money over the years. However, the organisation is about expansion, adaptation and exploration of all things electronic sports related. As such, they also have majorly competitive teams in game like Call of Duty, Rainbow Six, Hearthstone, Fornite, Rocket League, Clash Royale, Super Smash Bros, Paladins, Sim Racing and PUBG.
Since 2016, G2 eSports has been racking up major achievements, awards and wins at local and international tournaments. Some of their most notable achievements include being a four-time consecutive winner of the EU LCS for spring/summer in 2016 and spring/summer in 2017. Later in the year, the LoL eSports team were runners up to SK Telecom at the mid-season invitational
The CS:GO team earned many achievements in 2017, becoming the ESL pro League season 5 and DreamHack Master Malemo Champions. The G2 Rocket League team won the very first World Championship back in 2016 and the RA RLCS season 5 Champs. They were also voted as the best Hearthstone team in 2015 and 2016. In total G2 have 82 awards to their name and are still going strong.
As an organisation, G2 has one of the highest viewership for eSports in Canada and around the globe. The club produces one of the most watched reality TV shows on MTV Spain called GAMERS. They also have millions of viewers watching each and every competitive match via YouTube, Twitch and Social Media and remain a firm favourite with bettors too.
