Mayweather Enters Mobile Poker SceneDavid Burgundy | 01 Dec 2017
After making an impressive $100 million from his legendary fight with MMA champion Conor McGregor, Floyd Mayweather announced his retirement, much to the dismay of his fans. However, true fans will know that Money never stays down for long, and just a few months ago Mayweather’s stocks hit an all-time high, opening up endless new opportunities for the fighting icon.
Now, Mayweather has delighted his fans across the globe by returning to the poker scene once more – although this time, it is the mobile gaming industry that he will be gracing with his presence. Wild Poker, developed by Hero Digital Entertainment and PlayTRex, has signed Money on as the game’s brand new poker presenter, a role which he will fulfil using an in-game avatar.
Play as Money Or Wild Animal Icons
The new poker game is a unique version of Texas Hold’em poker that is fully optimised for mobile play. It takes inspiration from the animal kingdom with its sleek-looking graphics, and incorporates fun elements like adventure and poker strategy, not to mention power-ups, real-time decision making, and built-in game journey and character development modules.
The featured animal characters (and Mayweather’s avatar himself) will each be able to develop special skills unique to their avatars, and the game also features social casino elements and leaderboards to allow players to socialise and compete with other poker fans around the world.
Mayweather’s character also has his own special set of skills in the game, which players can use to their advantage to one-up their opponents and play to glory. In an official statement, Money noted that signing up with the new game was made easy for him the second he saw it, he knew he wanted to be a part of it.
Next Level Mobile Poker Action
The boxing champion has noted that Wild Poker is traditional poker, but that it goes to the ‘next level’ with immersive strategy and power ups. Money considers Wild Poker to be cutting edge, and, like everything he puts his name to, ‘the best ever’.
Mayweather’s partnership with PlayTRex was set up by ONE Entertainment, who considers Money a client and is a force to be reckoned with in the gaming industry. CEO A Johnson commented on the new deal that combining a mobile gaming experience with Mayweather’s brand was a natural fit, and that his company looks forward to introducing Wild Poker to Floyd’s fan base of over 50 million individuals worldwide.
It’s clear that Mayweather has no intention of slowing down his career or settling down into a peaceful retirement just yet. With yet another huge deal under his belt, the MMA legend’s entry into the mobile poker gaming sector along with other stars like Usain Bolt and Cristiano Ronaldo is almost certainly a smart move, especially as the rise of mobile gaming has only just begun.
